I liked the general setting off the first book, but was rather put off by its blatant cliff hanger ending so I wasn't planning to read further in the series. But I had some free time and gave it a try.The book reminds me of all the things I didn't like about the Mirror World series. The plot that moves forward almost completely randomly, all the powerful organization's are uncaring, evil and overwhelming, the characters blind obstinance that only works because of blind luck (or some programmer behind the scenes basically ensuring he can't fail), the ridiculous quests and his inability to get anything except rare and overpowered abilities and equipment.

The Outlaw Phantom Server Book #2 LitRPG series eBook Andrei Livadny Reviews
Best so far! Great story. Great characters. Hang in past the first chapter if you didn't just finish reading the previous book. Its slightly chaotic while it bridges the gap between book 1 and book 2 but well worth the wait. Thank you Andrei for another wonderful day spent immersed in this world you have created. Can't wait for the next book!
This is the second of the Phantom Server books and I have to say that I love the premise, especially the quiet realities in the series. I left a more exhaustive review on GoodReads but as a summary
If you like LitRPG series such as D. Rus's books or D. Wolfin then you will definitely enjoy this series as well.
I brought this 2nd book because I liked the 1st and wanted to see what happened after he tried to get away from the outlaws and phantom raiders while trying to rescue his 'girl' that is lost to the phantom server. In this book he needs to complete the quest given to him by a 'hybrid' - a human/ NPC. I won't spoil it anymore. You'll just need to see how he survives and try to solve the mystery of what the phantom server is. Looking forward to the 3rd book.
So many new abilities. Blow stuff up. Cut stuff. Make stuff. Blow stuff up a different way. Blow stuff up a third way. So many. AND he gets a sidekick? So good.
It's kind of a nice change of pace to have so much disposable loot, too. Find a cool gun? Don't get attached, cuz that thing's gonna break, get blown up, eaten, disintegrated, or meet some other terrible fate.
The plot is great. You won't really know what's going on even at the end. Some junk gets explained, but there's tons left open.
For me this second installment was every bit as good as the first book with tons of sci-fi excitement, adventure and virtual reality twists and turns along with good solid roleplaying game content. the main character continues to try to figure his way out of hair raising situations while growing stronger as a person and a character in the game. Still a lot of adventure left in this story, cant wait for a third book to come out.
Good story, litRPG takes a more central role than in part 1, which is kind of ironic since you start to realize it might not exactly be a game (if you did not already do in book 1). Good tension, although at times I feel alien technology and nanomachines are used a bit as a deus ex machina. Another cliff hangar ending, makes me glad I waited some time before I started with the series.
A decent continuation of the first part. I enjoyed reading it, even if some parts of the book were overly long. This complain is absolutely subjective and I expect that readers who find characters development entertaining will enjoy the mentioned parts of the story quite a bit.
If you decide to buy this book I suppose you enjoyed the first installation. You will not be disappointed, the book provides its readers with a story line non-different from the first part. Which is good. The level of writing or storytelling does not deteriorate, which is also good. All in all, worth your time and bucks.
