I hate to see this series end, it's been so pleasurable to step back in the historical time of gold/silver mining in Colorado and finally on to Sonoma, CA with Carina's passionate Italian family living on their vineyard. kristen Heitzmann is a talented author, whose stories come in many layers that peak the readers interest all the way through. There are many new characters, challenges, action, suspense & resolutions that prevent knowing the ending in advance. The author 's descriptions are so vivid I could imagine being in these places during this period of time. She wrapped up the romance between Carina and Quillan in a such a captivating way, one that brought the element of family and God into unity. An excellent story, well written with well developed characters and it's also very clean and very romantic.

Out of the trilogy this one is my least favorite. I don't understand why some characters don't learn from their mistakes. This book frustrated me that the family was so set against her husband. It seemed a little far fetched that the family would strive so hard for the daughter to marry the "cousin". I think there was not enough punishment for the evils that were done, or that once again the husband looses all his hard earned cash and the wife is happy? I do love the authors poetry and style of writing.
This last book in the series brings a wonderful tale to an end and leaves me hoping for more words of this wonderful family. All three books were awesome, and It was bittersweet to finish reading the adventures of these two brave people. Thank you Kristen for sharing your beautiful talent to not only spin a wonderful story, but to intwine the blessed words of the Lord into the lives of these people, to help me reflect on my own walk with the Lord, and to see how all of us struggle to walk with the light. I will look for more of your writing.
This is an amazing set of a story with well developed characters and plots. The characters are so real they grow into what feels like friends. The twists and turns of the plot are so good that I thought I could smell the pine trees and Carina's cooking. At the heart of these 3 books is faith. Carina and Quillan's growing and deepening faith gives them guidance and strength to carry on. It is not a sappy religious book but faith grounds many of the characters. I highly recommend this series. It is in my opinion not to be missed. The Rose Legacy, Sweet Boundless are the first two.
This series of the Diamond of the Rockies has adventure, good guys versus bad guys, dangerous situations (like being caught in a mine), hope and salvation, and love enduring through disappointment and disaster. All three are needed to get the story out while you experience the old west. Not only that, but I experienced my own inner healing as I wept, understanding more about the rejection I have been through, And the forgiveness needed. And if i am not wrong, I think there is a distant link to the author's Michelli family series.
Kristen Heitzmann writes so beautifully. I just loved this series, and I had trouble functioning and breathing normally until I'd finished. Her books grab you and never let go. And I loved every second of it. The third book is pretty different from the earlier two, since the rest of the cast and the setting changes, but she handles this so well, and I was excited to start off on a new adventure with Carina and Quillan. Quinlan, even though he's already been saved, has quite the growth arc here and I loved seeing him change over the course of the story.
If you haven't read The Diamond of the Rockies series be sure to start at the beginning with The Rose Legacy. This trio is almost like one book, each taking up where the previous ends.
I loved these characters and hated to end this book. There is no "formula" here where you know from page one how it will turn out. These are not cookie cutter stories or people but true to life folks with all the struggles, fears and failures of us all. Each finds their way through these struggles to their own grip on faith. I love that there are books like this that have a good clean message and gripping story line.
This trilogy actually deserves five stars. While the books can stand alone, it is difficult because the characters and story live and move on, intertwining into the following books. Hence my problem at the end of the third book.

We have moved along three books with the characters. Then we are suddenly rushed to the end as if Ms. Heitzmann discovers, "Whoops! This is the third book. Getting too long and what more is there to say? Better wrap it up quick." And she does. Compared to the rest of what has happened to Carina, suddenly it's all over. What DOES Quillan do? Start his own vineyard? How DOES Carina redirect all of HER energy now? Will there be a fourth book? What happens to Flavio? Mae was such an important character in Crystal. Now we are left hanging as to her future. These should have been part of book three somehow instead of ending it unsatisfactorily.

I felt like I was given being regifted - that feeling of being given something, but not feeling TOTALLY good about it. Loved the characters a lot. Maybe that's why I felt like I do about the end.
